对皮带输送机进行打磨的目的是为了改善表面的粗糙度，使之更加光滑，而且还可以磨掉多余的油漆，增加美观。通常可以采取三种打磨方式。
1、机械打磨：大面积打磨皮带输送机时，为了提高工作效率，可采用机械打磨方法，如电动打磨机（圆盘式、振动式）；
2、干打磨：如果皮带输送机上粘附了硬而脆的漆种，可采用砂纸进行打磨。其缺点是操作过程中将产生很多粉尘，影响环境卫生；
3、湿打磨：用水砂纸蘸水或肥皂水打磨。水磨能减少磨痕，提高涂层的平滑度，并且省砂纸、省力。但水磨后应注意喷涂下层油漆时，一是要等水磨层完全干透后才能涂下层油漆，否则漆层很容易泛白。但是吸水性很强的底材也不宜水磨。
所以对于皮带输送机而言，打磨工艺是生产加工操作中一道不可或缺的工序，要求操作人员采用合适的方法有耐心的施工，这样才能更好的确保打磨质量。
